IMF mission to pay a visit to Chisinau

A mission of the International Monetary Fund is expected to come to Chisinau, but the date of the visit hasn’t been yet set, acting Prime Minister Vlad Filat informed in the March 28 meeting of the Government, IPN reports.

Vlad Filat asked the ministers and other bodies involved directly to prepare reports on how the commitments made by the Government within the program with the IMF are carried out.

In a news conference, acting Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said that though the program was extended by three months until March 31, Moldova didn’t fulfill all the commitments agreed with the IMF. In the last meeting of the Cabinet before the dismissal, there were approved a number of bills that hadn’t been coordinated with the IMF. The official also said that Moldova will miss the last US$76 million tranche of the program negotiated in 2010.
