IMF Executive Board completes sixth and final review of Moldova’s ECF and EFF

The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) completed the sixth and final review of Moldova’s economic performance under the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) and Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangements. The Board also concluded the 2020 Article IV Consultation with Moldova, IPN reports.

“The negotiations we held with the team of the International Monetary Fund in February 2020 and the fulfillment of the assumed commitments enabled us to successfully complete the existing program and to lay the basis of a new program. Following this decision, the country during the next few days will benefit from consistent financial support,” Prime Minister Ion Chicu posted on Facebook.

An IMF team visited Chisinau from January 22 to February 5 to conduct the 2020 Article IV consultation and the sixth and final review of Moldova’s economic program. The team reached staff-level agreement on policies needed to complete the sixth review under the program and held constructive discussions on the 2020 Article IV Consultation with the authorities.
