IMF could help Moldova pay difference between old and new electric power and heat charges

Moldovan Premier Vlad Filat asked the International Monetary Fund to help Moldova cover the difference between the old and new electric power and heat charges for socially-deprived groups of people. He made the request at a meeting with the IMF Managing Director Dominique Strauss-Kahn in Washington, Info-Prim Neo reports. In another connection, Vlad Filat said that the IMF had provided about US$180 million to Moldova in financial assistance and will allocate another US$590 million under the memorandum signed in October 2009. According to the press service of the Moldovan Government, Dominique Strauss-Kahn said the IMF is ready to support Moldova in continuation, including in overcoming the problems faced at present. A Moldovan governmental delegation headed by Premier Vlad Filat paid a working visit to the U.S. between January 19 and 23.
