ILO offers US$ 150,000 to Moldova for two programs

The International Labor Organization (ILO) will provide US$ 150,000 to the Republic of Moldova for piloting two programs to subsidize employers that will create or adjust workplaces for persons with disabilities or from other socially deprived groups. The programs were presented in a news conference on July 8.

Contacted by IPN, director of the National Employment Agency Raisa Dogaru said the provisions of the law on the promotion of employment and unemployment insurance that came into force on February 10 this year could not be implemented so far as the state budget does not include money for the purpose. With the assistance of the ILO, the two subsidization programs will be piloted during six months in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti and in the districts of Cahul, Strășeni, Orhei and Hâncești.

The programs cover the persons with disabilities, those freed from detention, who fight drug addiction, who are victims of human trafficking and domestic violence. About 135 persons aged between 18 and 35 will be the beneficiaries of these programs.

The law provides the employers that will create or adjust a workplace for persons with disabilities will be reimbursed 50% of the incurred costs. The companies that will hire unemployed persons from socially underprivileged groups will get monthly subsidies equal to 30% of the monthly average official salary for the previous year during six months for each hired unemployed person.
