Illegalities identified in import, transportation and sale of meat products

An importer of semi-finished meat products and frozen poultry products came into the focus of the police on suspicion that this committed illegalities in the import, transportation, storage and sale of meat products. The National Food Safety Agency said that samples were transmitted to the National Veterinary Diagnostic Center for determining the quality and safety of the products, IPN reports.

According to the Agency, it was determined that the frozen poultry products are transported through Moldova in the absence of an authorization and of cold storage facilities and that the imported and sold food products weren’t meat products, but semi-finished meat products, which runs counter to the legislation on food safety, with the final consumers being this way misled.

The people are urged to be prudent when they buy meat products from unauthorized places so as to avoid eventual dangers to health and considerable economic damage.
