The number of illegal border crossings on the Ukrainian segment this year so far is by 47% higher than in the corresponding period last year, the Border Police said. According to the head of the Risks Analysis Division Iurie Gotisan, this is due to the sociopolitical situation in Ukraine, IPN reports.
At the same time, the illegal migration on the border with Romania diminished by 23%.
The Border Police seized 163,000 packs of contraband cigarettes. The number of cases of cigarette smuggling rose by 28%. There were identified 53 units of transport smuggled into or out of the country. The number of cases is by 36% lower than in the same period last year.
