Tiraspol released one of the illegal detainees assisted by Promo-LEX. It is Anton Malyshev, who was released from the custody of Transnistrian structures after almost two years of illegitimate detention, the association reports. It is not yet clear whether this is happening under the conditions imposed by Chisinau, IPN reports.

The institution says that on February 8, 2023, he was forcibly abducted and subjected to a criminal trial in Tiraspol, and subsequently detained in inhumane conditions. "During this period, his health seriously deteriorated without access to adequate medical care. The poor conditions of detention led to drastic weight loss and a deterioration in his general condition", Promo-LEX notes.

The case comes a day after Chisinau said it would allow gas transit to the Transnistrian region, with certain conditions imposed on Tiraspol, one of which is the release of political prisoners.

IPN has asked for a reaction from the executive to find out whether this release is taking place in the context of these conditions, but has not yet received a reply.
