Illegal arrests must be main subject of 5+2 meeting, Promo-LEX
Promo-LEX Association reiterates the necessity of including the immediate and unconditional release of the persons held illegally on the territory of the Transnistrian region in the agenda of the negotiations in the 5+2 format that will take place in Dublin, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Promo-LEX considers there should be discussed especially the cases of Vitalie Eriomenko, Alexandru Ursu, Eduard Elitsov, Oleg Filin, Ostap Popovski, Iurie Matchenko, Alexandru Baluta, Eugen Antonov, and Mihail Rotari. The NGO encourages taking the necessary steps so as to ensure the observance of the rights of the detainees of the Tiraspol administration and to obtain guarantees that they are not subject to torture and inhuman or degrading treatment.
According to the Association, effort should be made to initiate the procedures for creating legal and credible mechanisms for the residents of the Transnistrian region, which would serve as practical instruments for the region’s population that would protect and defend their constitutional rights.
The formal Transnistrian conflict statements talks in the 5+2 format will be held in Ireland’s Dublin on February 28-29.
