The political parties that fielded candidates for the presidency and the aspirants for the office of President must prepare working groups that will be present at polling places on the election day. Such a suggestion was made by Ilie Rotaru, who also intends to run in the presidential elections. He said that these groups can hamper vote rigging and the results of the presidential elections will thus represent the people’s will.

In a news conference at IPN, Ilie Rotaru said the parties, especially those of the opposition, ignore the activity at polling places on the election day. The party leaders must pay special attention to the creation of working groups. The lack of such groups of the opposition parties favored vote rigging in the previous elections.

Ilie Rotaru also recommends the political parties and candidates to make public the copies of the reports that are compiled at polling places after the elections. “Only these reports can incontestably prove the legality of the October 30 elections in Moldova,” he stated.

The aspirant noted that the vote was massively rigged at polling places in the previous elections. Among the most spread methods of vote rigging are the entrance of the polling booth with an already stamped ballot, with the unstamped ballot being taken to the person from whom the voter received the stamped ballot, voting based on an agreement and photographing of the ballot to show the vote.

Ilie Rotaru is collecting signatures in his favor for being registered as an election runner. For the purpose, he must present at least 15,000 signatures to the Central Election Commission by September 29.
