Deputy head of the Political Party “Our Party” (PPPM) Ilian Casu said the party he represents pleads for a pro-Moldova development model that would be based on a functional state, democratic values, the rule of law and observance of human rights. According to him, the European integration conception should be contrasted with the real situation in Moldova, which is disastrous, and the people’s welfare, not with the triumphal statements of the parties that wave the European flags. The politician made such statements in the public debate “Eastern model and Western model for Moldova: differences, advantages, disadvantages. Chances of “Third Way” that was staged by IPN News Agency and Radio Moldova.
“Since the ostensible pro-European parties appeared, the money that comes from the EU in financial assistance for the Republic of Moldova has been provided for the ordinary people. However, hypothetically speaking, if the money hadn’t been stolen, Moldova would have been in a different situation now,” said Ilian Casu, recommending his colleagues from the Democratic Party to go to bus and train terminals to see how the people leave the country in large numbers owing to the disastrous situation here.
The politician considers the European integration is associated by the ordinary people with robbery, corruption, controlled justice and this is due to the fact that the ruling parties waved the European flag. “If we continue with geopolitics and the European integration, we will divide society even more. But with a society divided according to geopolitical, identity, linguistic and historical criteria, not even elementary reforms can be done. To implement what is indicated in the roadmap and what we hear at the briefings of the PDM, the state should be powerful, not weak, mafiotized and corrupt as at present. The police and the law enforcement agencies are subdued to the captured state,” said Ilian Casu, noting that as the representative of the opposition he feels these things on his own skin.
The deputy head of the PPPN said the politicians, by their triumphal speeches, split society further and the conception of European integration was discredited. The triumphal intention to amend the Constitution so that this stipulates the irreversibility of Moldova’s European course is only a propagandistic stratagem because the realities in Moldova have nothing to do with the conception of European integration, namely the rule of law, independent justice and human rights.
Ilian Casu also said that the quality of life of ordinary people in Moldova is disastrous compared with the living standards in other states. During 26 years, the Republic of Moldova couldn’t think up a mechanism that would have made those who are in power more responsible. Moreover, in the current conditions it is the ordinary people who are penalized.
The public debate “Eastern model and Western model for Moldova: differences, advantages, disadvantages. Chances of “Third Way” was the 77th installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture by public debates” that are organized with support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation of Germany.
