The leader of the Shor Party and the former president of the Administration Board of Banca de Economii Ilan Shor said that he is ready to return the sum of money that is imputed to him in the bank fraud case and then to claim it from the real beneficiaries of the fraud, IPN reports.
In an online news conference on April 27, Ilan Shor said the former shareholders of the three bankrupt banks - Banca de Economii, Unibank and Banca Socială – will seek damages in court and he is ready to help disclose those who planned the bank fraud and contribute to the recovery of the stolen funds. He avoided revealing the names of those involved, saying that he has enough evidence. Ilan Shor urged the National Bank of Moldova and the Ministry of Finance to start a dialog with him and with his lawyers and to consider offering damages to the three banks.
According to Ilan Shor, the bank fraud subject has been maximally politicized the past few years and the real goal was not to obtain political benefits. The banks were robbed long before 2014 and the illegally provided state guarantees were wasted by functionaries of the National Bank and the National Committee for Financial Stability.
Asked where he is now and when he plans to return to Moldova, Ilan Shor said he is in a safe place and does not appear in the public sphere because this is dangerous. He noted he does not think he should renounce the seat of MP as this was offered to him by the people, while his parliamentary activity he can perform with the assistance of his team.
