The mayor of Orhei town Ilan Shor was chosen as the chairman of the sociopolitical movement party “Ravnopravie” (“Equality”). In the meeting of the party’s Council on June 19, the participants discussed the movement’s prospects. Ilan Shor, who last year ran for the post of mayor on behalf of “Ravnopravie”, said there is now a chance for the party to return to active politics and to aspire to important electoral results, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the party.
Ilan Shor noted that the results achieved by the party after he became mayor of Orhei enable the movement to hope for success at national level. From his viewpoint, “Ravnopravie” must develop as a balanced power of the center-right that will promote Moldova’s statehood, the protection of the rights of all the ethnical groups, the strengthening of the state and the support for the socially deprived groups.
The party’s ex-leader Valery Klimenko was named as head of the Executive Committee of “Ravnopravie”.
