Angela Sarbu, the head of the Independent Journalism Center (IJC) since 2000, has become the new director of the national television channel Moldova 1, after being elected to the post by the Supervisory Board of the national broadcasting company TeleRadio on Saturday, Info-Prim Neo reports. Angela Sarbu's resume indicates a rich experience in media management, with IJC being a leading media NGO in Moldova. “I will plead for an independent television with a professional staff”, Sarbu said while being interviewed for the post by the Supervisory Board. She also said the television needed a reassessment for dumping poor-quality programs while the reporters needed trainings and competitions to gain experience. Financial reports and the progress made with reforming the national television channel would be made public, she assured. Two rounds of voting yielded 6 votes for Angela Sarbu. Alexandru Grosu placed second with 3 votes.
