During the winter holidays, firefighters and rescuers will be on duty to ensure the safety of citizens. 410 employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) with 140 vehicles will be ready to intervene. The public is urged to show responsibility and caution.

To avoid hazardous situations, specialists recommend that the Christmas tree be mounted on a stable support and make sure it does not touch the ceiling and any walls, radiators, electrical appliances and heaters. No candles should be lit on the Christmas tree. Lights and garlands must be switched off at night or when no one is home.

To avoid fires and carbon monoxide poisoning, the public is asked to exercise caution and comply with the rules for operating stoves and home heating appliances. Rescuers urge the public not to light fires in stoves with flammable liquids such as gasoline, kerosene and other hazardous substances.

Special attention should be paid to minors, especially during the winter holidays. Amid fluctuating temperatures, adults are urged to strictly monitor children and make sure they stay away from rivers and lakes.
