Even if the Democratic Party (PDM) holds complete power in the state, its situation is not at all enviable owing to the budgetary-economic pressure existing at present. To remain in power, the PDM does not have another way out than to repeat the situation of 2016 and corrupt and buy MPs, politologist and journalist Igor Volnitski was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Politics of Natalia Morari” on TV8 channel.
“Given the protest movement that exists in the Republic of Moldova at present, I don’t think the repeat of that scenario is possible. The application of such a scenario can be rather a stimulus that could generate the explosion of the ‘powder keg’,” stated Igor Volnitski.
As to the possibility of a PDM – PSRM coalition being formed, Igor Volnitski said that if Igor Dodon decides to form a coalition with the Democratic Party, he will lose the chance of a winning a new term of office as President.
According to the politologist, the opposition is obliged to attract society’s attention to the independent candidates who will run in the parliamentary elections because its coming to power depends on these, but he sees no steps being taken in this direction.
Igor Volnitski noted the possibility of early legislative elections should not be excluded. There are very big chances that these will take place. But this scenario is not at all suitable for the current government.
