A number of witnesses for the prosecution in the case of Vlad Filat gave false testimony, lawyer for the ex-Premier Igor Popa stated in the talk show “Black box” on TV8 channel. The lawyer said the statements of these witnesses weren’t confirmed by other witnesses.
“Some of the witnesses gave false testimony and this was confirmed by journalists. They said that a banker from the Russian Federation came to the Republic of Moldova, met with Vlad Filat and Ilan Shor and planned the concession of nonperforming loans from Banca de Economii. But it then turned out that the banker didn’t enter the county,” said Igor Popa, noting that the banker does not even know Vlad Filat.
The lawyer stated that the denouncing statements of Ilan Shor weren’t supported either. He intends to request to investigate the witnesses who made false statements, including Ilan Shor.
Valeriu Plesca, lawyer for businessman Veaceslav Platon, said the self-denouncing statements of Ilan Shor, which were used to take legal action against Veaceslav Platon, contained false data, starting with the companies that in one case are attributed to Platon, while in another case to Vlad Filat, but this is the same group of companies.
Expert of the Legal Resources Center Ion Guzun said Ilan Shor played a very important role in the case of the banking fraud. According to him, the prosecution of Ilan Shor lasts long. “We see that all these preventive measures against him are delayed and are not examined,” stated the expert.
