Igor Munteanu: CUB obtained its first posts of mayor in a struggle of attrition

The Coalition for Unity and Wellbeing (CUB) won the first posts of mayor in the recent elections in an unequal struggle, in a struggle of attrition, but with honest means. The Coalition will offer all the technical support and coaching needed for attracting vital resources for development to its mayors, including to the independent mayors who are supported by the CUB councilors. “We will stand by you and will offer you all the assistance you need to exemplarily fulfill the duties of European local elected officials. Courage, integrity and energy!” CUB chairman Igor Munteanu stated in a news conference, being quoted by IPN.

The politician said that the recent elections were vitiated by the most serious irregularities witnessed after 2018, from illegal financing to misuse of the administrative resource and furious attacks. The international and national observers permanently identified violations of the Electoral Code, while the caravan moved to a direction that is the opposite of the European integration direction.

“The criminal parties that derived from the Shor Party continued to receive money and used very complex infrastructure, being prevented in rare cases. Evidently, they ensured image transfer and recaptured whole localities, in particular in Gagauzia, in Orhei and other regions as the authorities and the agencies responsible for preventing illegal financing were incompetent,” stated Igor Munteanu.

The CUB leader noted that their party will do its best for the free people in the Republic of Moldova to freely develop the communities they represent and these localities should become European without the label put on them by particular ruling parties. Everyone should have access to funds and, as the mayors and the logicalities get European funds, funds for development and funds from partners that are loyal to the principles of good neighborhood, they should work according to rules, transparently and responsibly. “This will show the level of our loyalty to the European idea”.

“We demand that the current Government should show more openness and responsibility. From now on, we will also request this from the foreign partners that play a very important role: help the citizens of the Republic of Moldova to bring the Republic of Moldova to the European path,” said Igor Munteanu.
