Igor Munteanu and Vitalie Gamurari about eventual PDM-NOW coalition

Igor Munteanu, who was elected MP on behalf of the electoral bloc ACUM (NOW) DA PAS, said the bloc he represents would definitely not form an alliance with the Democratic Party. At the same time, the spokesman for the PDM Vitalie Gamurari noted there is place for a dialogue. The representatives of the two parties provided arguments in favor of their positions in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

Igor Munteanu said the PDM’s proposal to form a coalition with the bloc NOW means a very bad scenario for any party that respects itself. “Surely, the electoral bloc NOW can analyze things from a distance, draw conclusions and build a strategy by which we will reach a moment when the power will belong to the free people of this country and we will achieve the objectives set in the election campaign,” stated Igor Munteanu.

According to him, the bloc NOW will not form an alliance with the PDM or the PSRM. “These two parties form part of the famous duo. There is a mechanism by which both of the parties have offered different types of services to each other for years and this is not a novelty. What will happen during the next days or weeks will be only formalization of the mechanisms for dividing ‘rents’ between the PSRM and the PDM and this means overall responsibility for the future mistakes and failures will be borne by them,” said Igor Munteanu .

For his part, Vitalie Gamurari said the PDM wants to open talks without prejudice. “We want to reach that comprise and go on,” he noted.

“We are ready for negotiations, first of all on problems related to the principles that were made public by the PDM. I do not want to anticipate other forms of negotiations than those that should exist – transparent talks. The invitation to the talks was made first to NOW as the bloc’s government program mainly coincides with the PDM’s program. Many of the things that were already done by the Democratic Party are stipulated in the government program and the projects proposed by the bloc NOW”.

According to Vitalie Gamurari, there is place for a dialogue between the two political entities and for the possibility of  negotiating a future coalition in the interests of the Moldovan citizens.

The Democratic Party and the electoral bloc NOW are the next two political entities that won the largest number of the seats of MP after the Party of Socialists. The PDM won 30 seats of MP, while NOW 26 seats and cumulatively they have 56 seats of MP of the 101. A number of coalition scenarios are now being formulated in the public sphere.
