Igor Grosu: We are ready to assume governance

Candidate for Prime Minister Igor Grosu said that he is ready to assume responsibility for governance and if he obtains a vote of confidence from Parliament, he will launch Cabinet reshuffles so as to depoliticize the government jobs. Moreover, he has discussions with representatives of the PSRM, PDM, PAS and PPPDA, but does not intend to ask for support from the MPs of Pro Moldova and For Moldova, IPN reports.

The candidate said that his team is almost similar to that proposed earlier by Natalia Gavrilița as these are professionals who accepted to assume responsibility for governance.

“We are ready for both of the scenarios. If the Government is voted in, we will take action swiftly. If it is not voted in, we will follow another path. We had preliminary discussions with the PPPDA and very good discussions with the PDM. We also met with representatives of the PSRM. I don’t think I can have discussions with the other groups, also due to the recent events to lift the immunity of MPs. We will not bank on the votes of a party that includes such persons,” Igor Grosu stated in the talk show “In Depth” on ProTv channel.

Igor Grosu noted that the PAS does not abandon the idea of having snap parliamentary elections, but the current financially precarious situation necessitates the voting in of a Government with full powers that will be unable to unlock foreign financial assistance. The first actions as a full-fledged Government will be the Cabinet reshuffles.

“The pandemic situation forces us to adopt such an attitude. I already asked my colleagues to do the homework. We will make changes as regards the secretaries of state, representatives of the Government at the local level and other government posts. Each minister was entrusted with the task of compiling a list of replacements so that we do the necessary changes at the first meeting already and start work,” said Igor Grosu.

He noted he cannot anticipate if he is voted in or not, but his party is ready for both of the scenarios.

“Some are ready to vote anything to avoid snap elections. The Socialists said they are not disposed to give me a vote of confidence. If someone considers things in the country will degenerate and the blame will be shifted onto the PAS only, they are wrong” stated Igor Grosu.

According to the candidate, among the main priorities of his team, if they are given a vote of confidence, are the management of the pandemic crisis, clearing of state institutions from elements of corruption and holding of snap parliamentary elections.
