Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said the new legislative body will accelerate the implementation of crucial reforms for the citizens and for the relations with the European Union, including legislative ones. In a meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Janis Mazeiks, who succeeded Ambassador Peter Michalko, Igor Grosu wished the new ambassador success in fulfilling his duties, assuring him of the Parliament’s openness for cooperation with the EU Delegation, IPN reports.
“We highly appreciate the European Union’s support for the European integration process, while the EU Delegation plays an especially important role in this process. The strategic partnership with the European Union will be a subject of maximum relevance on the legislature’s agenda,” said Igor Grosu, being quoted in a press release of the Parliament’s press service.
The Speaker noted the new legislative body will accelerate the implementation of crucial reforms. “The building of the rule of law, the justice sector reform, the fight against corruption and the ensuring of transparency in governance are important for restoring the people’s and foreign partners’ confidence and for developing the country” stated Igor Grosu.
He underlined the key objectives of the legislative agenda for the immediate period, correlated with the provisions of the Government’s work program “Good Times”.
Janis Mazeiks expressed his readiness to continue the interaction of the EU Delegation with Moldova’s Parliament on all the subjects of the common agenda.
