Igor Grosu meets with Ambassador Yoshihiro Katayama

It is important to reorganize the legal framework so as to create a correct, simple and attractive business environment at regional level and to accelerate local and foreign investment. The subject was discussed by Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and Japan’s Ambassador to Moldova Yoshihiro Katayama in a meeting. The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the new Parliament’s role in adopting clear laws to prevent and fight corruption, to ensure fair justice and economic development.

“We discussed the intensification of the interparliamentary relations, primarily through the friendship groups of the legislatures of the two states, and the fact that a transparent and attractive investment environment is an important condition for extending the presence of the Japanese business in Moldova,” stated Igor Grosu.

The Speaker thanked the ambassador for the interest shown by Japan in the Moldovan citizens through the constant support provided in different fields, primarily in agriculture through the 2KR project. The Government of Japan the past year helped again Moldova by offering generous assistance in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the end, Igor Grosu congratulated Japan on the impeccable organization of the Olympic Games in Tokyo amid the difficult times, noting Moldova’s representatives have an honorable performance there.

For his part, the Japanese diplomat Yoshihiro Katayama congratulated Igor Grosu on his appointment as Speaker of Parliament.
