Igor Grosu: By this parliamentary session’s end, we will leave CIS Interparliamentary Assembly

The Government set the goal of renouncing the membership in the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly until the end of the current session, said Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu. According to him, Moldova no longer wants to be part of an entity that was founded by an aggressor state. Moreover, the official said that the authorities are considering the possibility of applying the principle of parity when it goes to the Russian diplomats, IPN reports.

The Speaker noted that they are considering reducing the number of Russian diplomats in the Republic of Moldova. Currently, the ratio of Moldovan diplomats working in Russia to the number of Russian diplomats working in Moldova is 6:40.

“I’m in favor of parity. We need to carry out assessments and should not have illusions about the fact that they will change their behavior. They treated us disrespectfully and will continue doing so. Assessments are now being carried out and we will formulate a proposal to this effect. The plan I agreed with my colleagues is to say goodbye to them by the end of the current parliamentary session. We are leaving the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. As a legislative body, what is the goal of being a member of the Interparliamentary Assembly when a founding state, the Russian Federation, invaded another founding state, Ukraine? We anyway do not take part in this, do not accept invitations, do not pay membership dues. But the colleagues from the opposition still attend at their own expense. We undertook to leave the Interparliamentary Assembly by the end of the current session,” Igor Grosu stated in the program “Shadow Cabinet” on JurnalTV channel.

The official also said the Constitutional Court’s decision to outlaw the Shor Party is a signal for the while political class. Political corruption is unacceptable and all the parties that will resort to illegal financing and voter bribing will be penalized.

“It is a powerful message from the Constitutional Court, which clearly says that any political party that deliberately breaks the law will suffer such consequences. It is a signal for the whole political class. The buying will no longer work. It is a clear signal that those who apply the model of politics by using money, by attracting foreign agents must suffer the consequences,” stated the Speaker, noting the fact that they know to do politics only by such methods is their misfortune.

On June 19, the Constitutional Court declared the Shor Party unconstitutional. The MPs and mayors of this party will now serve as independents, until the end of their tenures. The party’s lists of substitute candidates were nullified
