Igor Grosu about Moldova Support Platform: This is a success of government

Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu said the Moldova Support Platform that is to be launched in Berlin on April 5 is a success of the Moldovan government. The event staged by Germany, France and Romania is designed to offer international assistance to the Republic of Moldova in the context of the war in Ukraine and the refugee crisis generated by the military aggression of Russia. The Republic of Moldova will trenchantly ask the international community to offer support in the form of donations or preferential loans, IPN reports.

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Bogdan Aurescu, Romania will organize, together with Germany and France, a conference in Berlin on April 5 for creating a Moldova Support Platform and for encouraging the provision of foreign support to Moldova.  In the conference, the EU member states, G7, international financial intuitions and other states and organizations will be urged to make donations.

“It was hard work by the Government, Parliament and the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with regard to these advocates. We explained to them that beyond the refugee crisis, the Republic of Moldova also faces economic, financial and commercial problems. The three countries proposed staging a platform, a conference where to discuss the problems of the Republic of Moldova. This is a success for the Republic of Moldova. We have very clear estimates as to what we need. We need mostly donations rather than loans. The loans should be offered in preferential conditions. We need the markets to be opened as the access to the markets of Ukraine, the Russian Federation and Belarus was closed and we are making effort to persuade the European partners to open the markets to our products,” Igor Grosu stated in the program “In Depth” on ProTV Chisinau channel.

The Speaker assured that there are no suspicions that would point to eventual preparations for the Transnistrian region to become involved in the war in Ukraine. He called on the citizens to inform themselves only from official sources so as not to fall victim to fake news that is designed to destabilize the situation in Moldova.

“We will yet remain vigilant. We have a foreign army on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and an ammunition depot. We attentively follow the developments on the left side of the Nistru and inform the citizens every time. There was fake news, including about the education institutions there. We will every time intervene and combat fake news,” stated Igor Grosu.

According to the official, the Support Platform in Berlin will focus on military security, energy security and the management of Moldova’s borders.
