The prosecutors demand two years in jail and ban on holding public posts during a period of three years for the head of the Chisinau Transport Division Igor Gamretski, who was suspended from post. The prosecutor in charge of the case Dumitru Robu said the judgment could be passed on August 3, IPN reports.
Igor Gamretski is accused of traffic of influence with receipt of goods and advantages in the case of pay parking spaces that also features Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca. The prosecutor said Igor Gamretski admitted his guilt.
On July 21, the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office said the investigation into the case of pay parking lots was completed and the case was sent to court. According to this, Dorin Chirtoaca committed acts of passive corruption and influence peddling in an aggravated form while holding office. The mayor pleads not guilty. To exclude any influence on witnesses, the prosecutors requested the Chisinau Municipal Council to suspend the mayor from post for the period of the trial.
