Igor Dodon: We should not allow Moldova’s union with Romania

The Republic of Moldova’s union with Romania should not be allowed and the people who are against Moldova’s statehood should be outlawed, President Igor Dodon stated in the talk show “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel, IPN reports.

According to him, to solve the problem of unionism in the Republic of Moldova, he needs the support of the parliamentary alliance. “We proposed a draft law that suggests the same thing as the one that exists in Romania – those who are openly for the liquidation of the Romanian state are considered outlaws. These are hunted and arrested. We should do the same,” said President Dodon.

He also said that attempts to destabilize the situation in Moldova will be made in 2018 by staging different events dedicated to the union. “When several thousand Romanian citizens try to march from the border up to Chisinau, while dozens, thousands and millions of people would not like this, these could respond by particular acts. In this regard, we do not need a destabilization of the situation,” stated the President.

In the opinion of Igor Dodon, Romania would never be able to absorb the Republic of Moldova because this would lead to the liquidation of the Romanian state.
