The authorities are ready to engage the army following the special regime introduced in Moldova. The necessary protocols were already prepared. At the moment, no additional forces need to be involved, President Igor Dodon was quoted by IPN as saying after the meeting of the senior state officials.
“We are prepared and discussed the situation with the Ministry of Defense. We have sufficient forces and capacities. If it is necessary, we are ready to engage the army. At the current stage, the situation can be managed through the efforts of the police, the Ministry of Home Affairs and other services,” stated Igor Dodon.
A week ago, Parliament voted to declare a state of emergency for 60 days in Moldova. The law on the state of emergency, siege or war says that during the state of emergency, the reservists of the Armed Forces can be called out by a Government decision to contribute to weathering the emergencies of a natural, technogenic or ecological character.
