President Igor Dodon said over 80% of the voters in the Republic of Moldova are not satisfied with the state of affairs and the largest part of people say things in the country go wrong. According to him, the situation in a number of areas has been disastrous during the past few years and the people who want things to be changed should go and vote. “If the people vote for another government to come tomorrow, the situation will change,” President Ddon said after casting his ballots, IPN reports.
“The vote belongs to everyone and everyone’s vote counts,” stated Igor Dodon, calling on the people to be very active and not to allow to be scared or bought. “Don’t be afraid that they will dismiss you, if you are public functionaries, as I know that you are obliged to vote for particular parties at these elections,” stated Igor Dodon.
He noted he knows about the violations committed so far in the voting process, such as the bringing of voters to polling places in an organized way. “At this hour, over 10,000 people from Transnistria took part in the elections. We have never had such a turnout. We see how administrative resources are being used. Those who do business on the left and right sides of the Nistru probably try to influence the elections,” said the President.
According to Igor Dodon, if a party does not win a majority of seats of MP, early legislative elections could take place in several months.
He said he took only the ballots for the elections, not yet those for the consultative referendum. “If the Constitution is to be amended as regards the MP, the switching of MPs from one party to another should be banned first of all,” stated President Dodon.
