Igor Dodon to meet with Vadim Krasnoselsky July 28

President Igor Dodon announced that he will have a meeting with the Transnistrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky on July 28. The checkpoints that were unilaterally set up by the Transnistrian side are the first subject on the agenda of discussions, President Dodon stated in the program “President Responds” that was filmed in the presence of journalists, IPN reports.

The official said the meeting of the Supreme Security Council, where the given issue was to be discussed, wasn’t held because the ministerial officials in charge asked for more time to prepare the meeting.

“I saw that the previous days they replaced the so-called border guards with the militia. I had several discussions over the phone with Mister Krasnoselski the past few weeks. You know about this as we made public those details,” stated President Dodon.

Of the 37 initially set up checkpoints, 15 were closed. “Our goal is to return to the situation that existed at the start of March and we will insist on this. Then, we had those checkpoints that were confirmed and were actually created in the format that was discussed with the Joint Control Commission, the 5+2 format,” noted the official.

The official Tiraspol explained that the checkpoints were set up in connection with the pandemic, “I do not accept such an explanation as I think that this is an incorrect step on the part of those from the left side of the Nistru,” Igor Dodon said when answering journalists’ questions.

The Transnistrian side placed 37 illegal checkpoints in the Security Zone since the COVID-19 pandemic started. Recently, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Cristina Lesnic said that 15 checkpoints were removed.
