“This is the result of the delay, Maia Sandu and Andrei Nastase! You now have a prosecutor general. The coordinator probably applauds you now,” President-elect Igor Dodon wrote on a social networking site after President Nicolae Timofti signed the decree on the appointment of the prosecutor general, IPN reports.
“What you did is a big political mistake. This is what happens when frustration and emotions prevail over reason. I suggested holding discussions immediately after the elections, on November 14. You refused. Instead of fighting the government, you chose to take revenge on me. What did the people gain from this? If you did this unconsciously, delaying the validation of my office, it means that you are not mature politicians,” the leader of the Party of Socialists says in his message.
Igor Dodon also wrote that if Maia Sandu and Andrei Nastase did this consciously, it means that they are both political cowards.
President Nicolae Timofti on December 8 signed a decree to appoint Eduard Harunjen as prosecutor general for a seven-year term. The appointment of Harunjen, who was suggested by the Superior Council of Prospectors, comes only one day after the results of the candidate selection contest were made public.
