There are financial resources in Chisinau with which important projects can be implemented, the PCRM’s candidate for mayor general Igor Dodon said. On May 31, the candidate made public his platform centering on the economic and financial sectors. He said the PCRM’s team will find the necessary money as Chisinau has great economic potential, Info-Prim Neo reports. “About 70% of Moldova’s economic potential is concentrated in the municipality of Chisinau. It is a shame not to be able to efficiently and correctly manage this potential and to make sure that revenues are colleted into the municipal budget. Our team devised plans aimed at achieving the main objectives in the economic and financial spheres. According to independent specialists, there are about 400 million lei in Chisinau, which are not efficiently used by the municipal administration,” said Igor Dodon. The PCRM’s platform on the development of the economic and financial sectors envisions the creation of a modern city that would attract investments, and designation of efficient fiscal policy. The Communist candidate promised that if he becomes a mayor he will draw up an investment map after inventorying the municipal patrimony, which will be designed to transparently attract investment. He will also launch a program to sign investment agreements with at least ten major investors. Igor Dodon also pledged to create five investment platforms. “The investment platforms should be located in the suburbs of Chisinau. We will set up modern industrial parks there in order to attract investment,” he said. He also said he will take steps to combat tax evasion and the underground economy, extend the fiscal base in the municipality, improve the wholesale and retail trade in Chisinau, and will provide allowances to the framers from suburbs. In the ballot for the mayoralty of Chisinau, the PCRM’s candidate is under No. 5.
