The leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon said the Socialist parliamentary group will not vote for the governmental team proposed by Natalia Gavriliți, noting he is sure that the snap parliamentary elections will take place in June. Moreover, he excludes the scenario according to which a parliamentary majority will be formalized after the MPs fail to invest the Gavrilița Government on the first attempt and this will propose a candidate for Prime Minister, IPN reports.

The politician accused Maia Sandu of uselessly delaying the process of triggering snap parliamentary elections as these elections would have taken place earlier if Maia Sandu had nominated a candidate fort premiership swifter.

“We consider this Parliament should be past history as it does not match the vote given by the people in February 2019 and it should be thus dissolved. We already lost a month and it is the President’s blame here. If the President had proposed a candidate last December, immediately after Chicu resigned, the elections would have been held in April or May. Now the elections will take place in June,” Igor Dodon stated in the talk show “Natalia Morari’s Politics” on TV8 channel.

Igor Dodon assured that the Socialist MPs will not vote for the Gavrilița Government next week, no matter how good the governmental team and the government program are. The MPs of the PSRM will attend the Parliament siting, but will not vote for this Government.

The politician noted that they do not intend to form an official coalition with the Platform “For Moldova” so as to field a candidate for Prime Minister.

“What’s the use of having discussions with parties and personalities that will not enter Parliament and that were involved in different schemes in the past, of forming a coalition and of proposing a candidate who will most probably not be accepted by the President and we will again be heading for snap elections?” asked Igor Dodon.

Under the Constitution, if Parliament fails to invest a new Government as a result of two attempts and the Constitutional Court ascertains the circumstances that justify the dissolution of Parliament, this is dissolved and snap elections are called.
