President Igor Dodon issued a decree to dismiss Anatol Salaru from the post of minister of defense. The Head of State informed about this on his Facebook page. Igor Dodon thanked the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu for such a request and advised him to make similar dismissal requests in relation to other Liberal ministers of the current Cabinet, IPN reports.
“I remind that this minister ‘coquetted’ with NATO knowing very well that we are a neutral country, according to the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, favored the appearance and was ahead the military machinery in the Great National Assembly Square on the Victory Day, which is nothing but a provocation. He has pleaded openly for Moldova’s union with Romania. He fired many professionals from the state defense and security system, replacing them with persons close to the Liberal Party and the unionist ideology,” wrote Igor Dodon.
According to him, all these things are incompatible with the duties of a minister of defense in an independent and sovereign state whose Constitution has clear clauses on neutrality. “Moreover, this person was repeatedly accused of causing damage of tens of millions of lei to the Ministry of Defense and the national public budget by selling munitions and by performing dubious transactions with armament and possessions of the Ministry of Defense,” wrote the President, noting that an honest and devoted professional should manage the Ministry of Defense.
