Igor Dodon: Shor, Candu and possibly Plahotniuc are there behind CC decisions

President Igor Dodon said his discussion with the former president of the Constitutional Court (CC) Vladimir Țurcan is not a reason for dismissing him. According to him, the given discussions are an inter-institutional relationship with all the institutions and this is a normal relationship, IPN reports.

“I do not want to comment on some of the debates inside the Constitutional Court as I respect the CC, namely in its current composition. I took part, then as President, when there was another government coalition, in the appointment of this makeup. But I consider that these arguments are not reasonable. Absolutely nothing was infringed. The President is the chief of the Supreme Security Council and when an important decision related to the state of emergency was blocked that evening, evidently I had to call the CC head. If there had been another head, I would have called that head. It is the intergovernmental network, the state network and one can call and inquire about the situation and ask if a law will take effect or not,” President Dodon stated in a program on the national TV channel Moldova1.

He noted that under the management of the former Socialist MP Vladimir Țurcan, compared with the period during which the Democratic Party ruled, the Constitutional Court behaved decently.

“It does not go to the secrecy of the ballot, as someone said. I want to remind you that last year someone from among the CC members even stated how they voted and for whom. I will not give names as they will clarify things between them. But I categorically disagree that this can be a reason for taking such a decision. They assumed the given decision that is related to their internal discussions. Let’s be sincere, conscientious. Under the management of Mister Țurcanu Vladimir, the CC had a very decent behavior, to my mind and to the mind of society. There weren’t those deviations witnessed during the previous government until last June, when the CC was a political instrument in the hands of the PDM and Plahotniuc,” said Igor Dodon.

He also said that Ilan Shor, Andrian Candu and even the former leader of the PDM Vladimir Plahotniuc are there behind the last decisions by which the CC blocked and suspended particular laws.

“We see a political game and we know who plays this political game. Shor, Candu and possibly Plahotniuc are there behind the CC’s decisions. It is the same personage Sîrbu, who last June was there at 8am or 7am and wrote applications to have the President or the Prime Minister suspended. Maia Sandu – the same personage who was yesterday at the CC. We know what is going on and the persons who are trying to capture again the state institutions. We earlier removed the oligarchic regime and will yet remove it the second time, the third time. I hope the High Court and the judges of this Court realize the related risks.”
