Igor Dodon seeks education ministry’s dismissal
The chairman of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon has announced he will demand that Minister of Education Mihail Shleahtitski be dismissed because he adopted a decision under which the students will study the history of Romanians in schools, Info-Prim Neo reports
Mihail Shleahtitski Thursday presented a report in Parliament, saying the working group that analyzed the situation reached the conclusion that there should be taught two separate courses – the History of Romanians, and the Universal History - instead of one course. “The costs are nil as the change will be made based on the existing curriculum. No money will be spent on printing new textbooks,” said the minister.
Igor Dodon said yet that a part of people consider the Moldovans should study the history of Moldova. “The competence of this working group is questionable. We will demand that the minister of education be discharged if the order he made remains valid,” he stated.
The leader of the Democratic parliamentary group Dumitru Diacov intervened, saying when a new party comes to power the old history textbooks are removed and the history subject is politicized. “Our duty is to create normal learning conditions for the children,” said the lawmaker.
Unaffiliated MP Mihai Godea stressed that those who are against the history of Romanians are malevolent or do not know the history of the Romanian people, adding he considers a campaign was launched against Minister Shleahtitski.
