President Igor Dodon said he will not cooperate with the Filip Government and the parliamentary alliance and will use any occasion to cause early parliamentary elections. He made such a statement in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
“I do not form part of this government. It will be hard to come to terms. I disagree with many of their so-called reforms. But we cannot mount the barriers and fight. There will be a dialog, but no cooperation,” said the Head of State.
Igor Dodon also said that if he is blocked by the parliamentary alliance, he will propose initiatives to amend the Constitution. “We will initiate referendums and will ask for broader powers for the Heads of State. We will ask the people how to act,” he stated.
President Dodon noted that if the Filip Government is dismissed, he will field no candidate for the premiership. “The dismissal of the Filip Government will mean early parliamentary elections. I will use this prerogative to cause early elections. I promised early elections to the voters. No one will force me to put up one candidate or another,” he said.
The Head of State also intends to discharge Eduard Harunjen from the post of prosecutor general. “There are a number of solutions for annulling the appointment decree. We must analyze the consequences. We will apply one of the solutions in the near future. This prosecutor must be dismissed. We will stage a new contest to choose a candidate for prosecutor general,” stated Igor Dodon.
