Igor Dodon said nothing will make him ratify Association Agreement with EU

The leader of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon said firmly that he will not vote for the ratification of the Association Agreement with the EU and nothing can make him change his mind. Within an inquiry held by IPN among lawmakers, the MP said that this accord poses a number of threats to Moldova.

According to Igor Dodon, the country will face economic risks given that about 35% of Moldova’s exports go to the Eurasian Customs Union member states (Russia-Belarus-Kazakhstan). Another risk refers to the Moldovan migrants and the remittances coming from Russia. A danger can also come from Moldova’s Transnistria and Gagauzia, which are categorically against the signing of this agreement.

“We consider that the foreign vector must be decided by a referendum. It is a decision that must be taken by the people. That’s why we will vote against the ratification of the Association Agreement with the EU and I will state my opinion in Parliament and within mass protests,” said Igor Dodon.

Moldova will sign the Association Agreement with the European Union on June 27.
