President Igor Dodon said Ombudsman Mihail Cotorobai’s assertions that a number of doctors in the country would like to quit because they do not benefit from sufficient protective equipment when they provide medical assistance to persons infected or suspected of being infected with COVID-19 weren’t confirmed following checks, IPN reports.
“I talked to the Prime Minister, the minister of health and practically nothing of what he said was confirmed. When requests are made, they should tell exactly what they talk about and should not invoke the anonymity of those who come with such messages. The Premier proposed going to talk to those who write, without the press. That personage said that he was afraid. I think it is rather an attempt to cause panic. If someone has what to say, we should see what problems are encountered,” President Dodon stated in a special edition on the public TV channel Moldova 1.
He noted he will visit a number of national hospitals to discuss the faced problems with employees of the healthcare system.
“Personally, I will go to the medical institution without the press and will discuss the identified problems so as to decide how they can be solved. The most important thing at this stage is for the healthcare system to function.”
The official also provided a response to those who criticize the fact that the information to the press is communicated by Ion Chicu, Igor Dodon and Minister of Health Viorica Dumbrăveanu, but not by health professionals.
“The President, Prime Minister, senior state officials cannot stay aside. We are in the front line. Do they criticize us because we do not have relevant powers? This is less important. What matters now is for the senior administration to work in a team, together with the Government and it works professionally. Only this way can a situation like the current one be managed. Everyone should cooperate. I will be in the front line, as the Prime Minister and other government officials will be. We expose ourselves to risks, but will anyway go on,” stated Igor Dodon.
