The leader of the PSRM Igor Dodon said the Socialist MPs will not vote for Igor Grosu as Prime Minister and, most probably, Grosu will be one more candidate for premiership who will garner no vote in Parliament. Moreover, in the next sitting of the legislative body, the parliamentary majority will propose a candidate for Prime Minister and the President will be obliged to nominate this, in accordance with the Constitutional Court’s decision, IPN reports.
Igor Dodon said the PSRM will not vote for Igor Grosu and considers the decision to nominate him as Prime Minister is an emotional one.
“The President hurried and this will lead to a political stalemate. The probability for Igor Grosu to be voted in by the PSRM is close to zero. I don’t think the PSRM will support this candidate for Prime Minister. If he reached Parliament, this will be one more candidate who will gain zero votes,” Igor Dodon stated in the program “Direct Access” on NTV Moldova channel.
Furthermore, Igor Dodon said the decree to designate Igor Grosu as a candidate for Prime Minister could be declared unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court.
“There is a parliamentary majority that proposed a candidate who wasn’t accepted by the President. At the next sitting of Parliament, the same majority, in the same or in an extended format, will propose a candidate and then the President’s decree will not be valid,” stated the Socialist leader.
He also said that Mariana Durleșteanu’s decision to withdraw her candidacy surprised him as nothing showed such a development is possible.
“In the morning, she didn’t have the intention to withdraw. I assured her that we are ready to support her further. When Mariana Durleșteanu was proposed, a written application was presented. Now Maia Sandu decided that Durleșteanu withdraws based on what, on a posting published on a social networking site?” asked Igor Dodon.
In accordance with the law, the Government can be invested with the votes of at least 51 MPs. Two failed attempts to vote in a new executive lead to the dissolution of Parliament and the calling of snap parliamentary elections.
