Igor Dodon polls under 50% of the vote

With 96% of the votes in Chisinau counted, Igor Dodon earned 48.68% of the ballot, while Dorin Chirtoaca – 46.10%, show the preliminary results announced by the Central Election Commission, Info-Prim Neo reports. The second round of voting will be possibly held in two weeks. The voters would choose between the two candidates. The candidate who would poll the largest number of votes would emerge victorious. With 95.33% of the votes for the Chisinau Municipal Council counted, the PCRM earned 46.82% of the poll (26 seats according to the website www.alegeri.md), the PL – 31.55% (17 seats), the PLDM – 13.70% (7 seats), while the PDM – 3.03% (1 seat). After 90.67% of the votes have been counted, Igor Dodon had 50.16% of the ballot, while Dorin Chirtoaca – 44.93%.
