Igor Dodon: People voted ideology, not real managerial competence

In the June 3 mayoral runoffs in Chisinau, the people voted for an ideology, not for real managerial competence , President Igor Dodon stated, commenting on the election results, IPN reports.

Igor Dodon regrets that the citizens complain about holes in the streets, the sewerage system of a poor quality, illegal constructions and low-quality services, but many of the candidates in the election campaign were preoccupied with abstract political issues, not the real problems of the city.

“This is a regrettable phenomenon that repeats again and again to the detriment of the citizens of Chisinau, who later suffer the consequences of the one-day emotional preferences,” Igor Dodon wrote on his Facebook page.

According to him, the elections showed that the Socialists enjoy broad confidence and stable support in the capital city. “We will grow this confidence and support in a year, when the real struggle for Chisinau will be given, for a full term of mayor general, of four years,” wrote President Dodon.

According to the preliminary results, the candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase won the mayoral elections with 52.57% of the vote, while his rival Ion Ceban, of the Party of Socialists, gained 47.43% of the poll.
