Pensions could be indexed two times a year – on April 1 and on October 1. A bill to this effect was drafted by presidential advisers Ion Chicu and Viorica Dumbrăveanu, President Igor Dodon was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Key issue” on NTV Moldova channel.

The official said another legislative proposals that is being drafted provides that the old-age open son will be paid for five years to the husband/wife or successors if the person died before reaching retirement. Another social initiative refers to the provision of financial assistance during the cold period of the year to socially deprived persons.

President Dodon noted the procedure for appointing a new prosecutor general lasts for at least 60 days and could be launched in the second half of this August, after the amendments to the Law on the Prosecution Service are adopted.

According to Igor Dodon, acting prosecutor general Dumitru Robu, who was recently confirmed by Parliament, should deal with three key tasks – bank fraud, usurpation of power and corruption and smuggling schemes. “We preliminarily agreed with the Premier and the colleagues that the next meeting of the Supreme Security Council will take place in mid-August and we should discuss with the prosecutor general so that concrete results are achieved by then,” he stated.

“By the middle of August, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the National Anticorruption Center should step up efforts.”

President Dodon noted the declaration on state capture that was adopted by the new Parliament does not allow the government to take any action, as they rumor. “This is a political statement that is not above the Constitution and the law. We cannot move the Constitution, the legislation aside as something like this is not done in a state with the rule of law. There were precedents when those who were removed with deviations were rehabilitated,” he stated.
