Igor Dodon: Opposition must form common front against government

The chairman of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon considers the opposition, of the right and of the left, must form a common front against the current government However, he does not believe that the opposition will manage to agree a common candidate for this autumn’s presidential elections. The politician made such statements in the talk show “In depth” on Pro TV channel, IPN reports.

“I think the opposition, of the left and of the right, must form a common front against this government. I also speak about a civilized election campaign. I heard some discussions about a common candidate of the opposition, but this is impossible,” stated Igor Dodon.

He noted that what is said now about him, as if he is the candidate of Vlad Plahotniuc in the presidential elections or that he reached an agreement with the government, de facto forms part of the pre-election campaign aimed at denigrating him. “But we will cope with this campaign” he stated.

Igor Dodon also said that the agenda of the Socialists didn’t change and they continue to demand early parliamentary elections simultaneously with the presidential ones. In this regard, the Socialists are waiting for other MPs to sign the no-confidence motion initiated by them, including the Lib-Dems, so that this could be proposed.
