Leaving the polling station, where he cast his ballot in the second round of local elections, the country's president, Igor Dodon, has mentioned that things will be straightened out in Chisinau by professionals, not by Moscow, Bucharest or Brussels, IPN reports.
"Over the past 15 years, we have been witnessing a strange situation in Chisinau. Often people vote against someone, not for someone. Often the lesser evil is voted, from a geopolitical point of view," stressed Igor Dodon.
The President of the Republic of Moldova urged Chisinau dwellers "not to make the same mistake again as in recent years". "Let's give up on experiments, on hysterical people. Let’s think twice. When you go to the polls, I urge you to vote based on reason, not emotions," mentioned the head of the state.
In response to a journalist's question, Igor Dodon has stated that he wants the current government to exist even after the local elections, but things could change. “Some lines have been crossed in this election campaign by some partners. I want to congratulate the candidate that I have supported for a fair and professional campaign, as he did not give in to emotions and did not respond in the same harsh manner in which he was attacked,” pointed out Igor Dodon.
