The Republic of Moldova aims to continue and to extend the interaction with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) and the cooperation agenda, President Igor Dodon stated in the broad meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council that was held online. He noted that the cooperation projects in the agro-industrial sector and the ensuring of food security in the EEU countries hold special interest, IPN reports.
According to the presidential press service, President Dodon highly appreciated the negotiations on Moldova’s accession to the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) opened this year. In the negotiations, there were agreed the potential cooperation areas, such as the agro-industrial complex, road infrastructure, energy, promotion of mutual trade. The Head of State also spoke about Moldova’s tendency to successfully complete the negotiations with the EDB and to launch the first investment projects.
He thanked the partners, especially his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, for the assistance provided to Moldova in the fight against COVID-19. Igor Dodon expressed his confidence that the global crisis caused by the pandemic can overcome by common efforts and the normal pace of mutually advantageous cooperation could be restored.
President Dodon said that two years ago, owing to the unanimous support of the EEU countries at the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council held in Sochi, the Republic of Moldova was the first country that obtained the status of observer to this organization.
