Igor Dodon: Moldova could get anti-COVID-19 vaccine in November-December

President Igor Dodon considers the Republic of Moldova could obtain the anti-COVID-19 vaccine and start vaccination in November-December this year. He noted he will do his best for this to happen and believes that a compromise could be reached with Russia for this to offer Moldova 100,000 shots free of charge, IPN reports.

“We are having discussions with Russia and also with China. I will have a meeting with China’s ambassador next Monday and hope we will obtain the first consignment of such vaccines, evidently after they are homologated at international level, after the World Health Organization says they are ok,” President Dodon stated in the program “President Responds”.

He noted the first shots will be used to vaccinate persons of the risk groups and frontline employees, such as elderly persons and doctors. “I think these categories should be vaccinated at the expense of the state. It would be ideal for everyone. We will see how accessible the shots are”.

Igor Dodon said vaccination is the only solution for overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic, but the anti-epidemic measures imposed by the authorities should be obeyed until then.

Two weeks ago, President Dodon said he was ready to be the first Moldovan who would be administered the Russian vaccine against the novel coronavirus.
