The settlement of the Transnistrian conflict should end with the reunification of Moldova, with Transnistria having a special status as part of the country. This is the message transmitted by President Igor Dodon in a meeting with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Sebastian Kurz, Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is in Moldova on a visit, IPN reports.
On his Facebook webpage, President Dodon wrote that in the bilateral meeting he voiced hope that the Austrian OSCE Chairmanship will contribute to stimulating the Transnistrian conflict settlement process and informed about the view of the Moldovan presidential administration and the steps that this aims to take in this regard in the near future.
“The approach should be package-based: solving of four major problems of the people from both sides of the Nistru River,” insisted Igor Dodon.
In the meeting, the President also informed about the intention to stage an international conference entitled “Republic of Moldova as a territory of stability and development or a new challenge in the relations between the East and West” in Chisinau at the end of 2017, in concert with OSCE.
