If the PSRM and PDM do not form a government coalition, the country should get ready for snap elections, stated President Igor Dodon. He noted that the negotiations are at the incipient stage and a new meeting of the leaders of the two parties was held the previous days, IPN reports.
Igor Dodon said the current government is a minority one and cannot exist for too long. A decision as to the formation of a coalition is thus needed. “If a coalition is agreed, we will have stability during the next two-three years. If it is not, we should be ready for snap elections,” stated Igor Dodon, answering journalists’ questions after the meeting of senior state officials.
At this stage, said President Dodon, the two parties are discussing the principles of the coalition agreement that contains domestic and foreign policy issues. If the agreement is signed, the parties should propose candidates for Cabinet reshuffles and he will take decisions.
The PSRM and PDM last week announced the initiation of discussions on the formation of a government coalition.
