The geopolitical message will play an important role in the upcoming parliamentary elections that will take place in 2018, President Igor Dodon stated in a special edition of a program on NTV Moldova channel, IPN reports.
President Dodon said the people know which parties promote the pro-European values, which are pro-Russia and which are pro-Moldova and this aspect will play an important role in the future elections. “I hope a lot that a pro-Moldova majority, not a pro-European or a pro-Russian one will be formed in our country after the elections. I think this is real based on the mixed-member electoral system,” he stated.
Igor Dodon noted that Russia has and will have fewer possibilities of influencing the elections in Moldova than the European Union. “Much more nongovernmental organizations that are directly funded with Western grants work here. The West finances much more media outlets than Russia,” he said.
The President considers the Moldovans do not trust the European values because the West banks on corrupt politicians in Moldova and has supported these during all these years.
