The Party of Socialists’ candidate for President Igor Dodon said the results of the first round of the presidential elections are very good and favorable for the PSRM. According to the politician, the first round of voting showed that the people want a government of the left, IPN reports.

The leader of the PSRM said the results of the first round of voting beat experts’ forecasts and surprised many people. “The first round showed that the next government and the next President will be of the left,” stated Igor Dodon.

According to him, if there had been only one candidate for President representing the political left, this would have won the elections by the first round. “The government, with all it instruments, was unable to secure a better score for the candidate of the oligarchs Maia Sandu. It was unable to outstrip us even if it used Plahotniuc’s media outlets,” said the politician.

Igor Dodon expressed his conviction that he will win the runoff elections by a difference in votes of at least 5%. “If we enjoy the support of the partners of the left, the score will be 60% to 40%. If we do not, the score will be 52-53% to 46-47%. This will be the result of the runoff vote,” he stated.
