President Igor Dodon argues that the subject of the Republic of Moldova’s federalization as a concept of settling the Transnistrian conflict is not on the agenda and will not be in the future. The head of state maintains that such a matter cannot be discussed with anyone, refuting speculation in the public space that there are attempts to discuss the matter with the Russian Federation, IPN reports.
"There can be no formula discussed with Russia on the status of Transnistria, for such decisions must be taken by mutual agreement, first of all in Chisinau. We need to have a national consensus. After discussing the issue in Chisinau, we have to talk to Tiraspol to convince them about this formula. Only after that, it could be discussed in a large format," said Igor Dodon.
Further, Igor Dodon announced that during his recent visit to Moscow, Prime Minister Ion Chicu spoke with the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev about the withdrawal of ammunition from the Transnistrian region. "It was agreed that in the near future specialists would begin the procedure for preparing this process. It is a very important matter,” the head of state said. According to him, some of the ammunition cannot be transported, so they must be liquidated on the spot.
Igor Dodon has also stated that the $ 6.2 billion that constitutes the debt of the Transnistrian region to the Russian company "Gazprom" is the debt of the branch company of the Russian concern - "MoldovaGaz". "This is the debt of "MoldovaGaz" which is a branch company of "Gazprom". This cannot be the responsibility of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, it cannot be a debt to be paid by us, the citizens of the Republic of Moldova”, mentioned the head of state.
Further, as a solution, Igor Dodon says there are the assets of "MoldovaGaz" company in the Transnistrian region. "For the debt incurred by the left bank of the Dniester there are the assets that belonged to "MoldovaGaz" and, in principle, these assets could be used. If this is the solution. But I think that at the time of the political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, in my opinion, these debts should be written off”, said the president.
As to the price of gas for final consumers in the Republic of Moldova, Igor Dodon assured that next year the price of gas would not increase.
